A series of thunderstorms dumped on Christiana Sunday afternoon causing the cancellation of some of the Tour de Christiana events and the delay of others.
Racers and spectators alike huddled under porches and overhanging roofs as one storm after another lit the sky with lightening and created channels of water along the gutters of the small town on Lancaster County’s southeastern edge.
The woman’s race finished in a downpour. The men’s category 3/4 race and the children’s races were eventually cancelled. The men’s category 4/5 and pro/1/2/3 races were delayed.
Below the reduced men’s 4/5 field prepares for the third time to start, and, at bottom, races through the streets of the town.
