The Lancaster Farmland Trust’s Pedal to Preserve charity ride will be held Saturday morning, beginning at 8 a.m., at Garden Spot High School in New Holland.
On-line advance registration for the 51-mile, 20-mile and six-mile rides closes at midnight. Saturday morning registration is also available. The advance registration fee is $25. Children under age 12 are free when accompanied by an adult. Advance registration also includes a free T-shirt. At the end of the rides, participants can stop at the high school cafeteria for a free lunch, from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Organizers promise pork BBQ and Turkey Hill ice cream and drinks.
The annual ride raises funds for the Farmland Trust, which uses the money to buy agricultural preservation easements on farms in Lancaster County. The easements ensure the farmland remains in agricultural use for perpetuity. Last year’s ride raised nearly $60,000 for the Farmland Trust.
