Conewago Trail tour set for June 1

The Lancaster County Parks Department will celebrate National Trails Day with a bicycle tour of the Conewago Recreation Trail on Sunday, June 1, from 1-3 p.m.
Ranger Darren Weimer will guide bicyclists on a two and one-half mile stretch of the trail from Route 230, northwest of Elizabethtown to Route 743. The tour is free and open to participants of all ages.
The five-mile long trail is the rail bed of the former Cornwall-Lebanon rail line. The trail, which follows the Conewago Creek, connects to the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail at the Lebanon County line. The abandoned rail line was acquired by the county in 1979. It was resurfaced last year. The trail is used for hiking, jogging, bicycling, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing.
Event co-sponsors are Lance Koons, the owner and operator of the Rails-to-Trails Bicycle Shop, Club CYCLE SMART, a bicycle safety education program, and the Lancaster County Safe Kids’ Coalition.
Snacks will be available to participants and prizes will be awarded. Pre-registration is not required to attend. Anyone wishing more information for directions to the trail may call the county parks office, at 299-8215, or view www.co.lancaster.pa.us/parks.

I wonder why they are not going the whole length of the trail?
