Large turn-out, fair weather in Mount Joy

April 14th, 2008 12:38 pm · 0 comments

What a difference two weeks makes. Unlike the bitter cold wind that blew through Kirkwood last month, the conditions for Saturday’s Mount Joy Road Race were pleasant and warm. Leg and arm warmers were left in cars as temperatures rose well into the 60s and passing showers stayed away.

The 12 different races drew a total of 473 riders.

Dominique Rollin, the former Canadian national champion, made a modest showing in Saturday’s professional race. The Toyota-United pro came across the line in 39 place. Stephan Kincaid, of the professional Rite Aid team, was first in the professional/category 1,2,3 race. Ryan DeWald, of Reading, was fourth. DeWald is on the Battley Harley-Davidson team. He raced for Rite Aid last year. Tyler Wren of Colavita was fifth.
