An 18-year-old East Earl woman died Sunday at Reading Hospital after being struck by a motorcyclist last week in the 100 block of Pleasant Valley Road in Brecknock Township.

Verna Hoover was riding her bicycle on Pleasant Valley Road on Tuesday evening. She was riding with her sister, Jane Hoover, 21, when they were struck. Jane Hoover remained in critical condition at the hospital on Sunday, both of Lancaster’s daily newspapers reported today.

The motorcycle rider, Adam Eugene Nolt, 21, also of East Earl, also remains in critical condition at Reading Hospital, it was reported. Nolt lost control of his motorcycle on a curve in the road and crossed the center line before hitting the sisters head-on. They were oncoming in the other lane, state police said.
