USA Cycling recently posted a spreadsheet of 14 continental teams which will be racing in domestic professional races this year. Although the region is well represented on the rider rosters, there will be no locals in the professional peleton this year.
Brad Viera, a Lancaster native and Millersville University student, is absent from the listings. He has ridden for the previous two years with the Rite Aid Pro Cycling Team. Along with Viera, Ryan DeWald, of Reading, is also not listed on the Rite Aid roster. Bobby Lea, a Maryland native now living in Topton, does appear among the Rite Aid riders. Lea moves from the Toyota-United pro team.
Scott Zwizanski, of Dowingtown, will race for the Bissell Pro Cycling Team this year. He was with the team last year, although the name has changed. Last year the team was Priority Health Presented by Bissell.
Lehigh Velodrome racers are well represented in the pro ranks. Along with Lea, Jackie Simes has joined the Time Pro Cycling Team. Ben Barczewski and Andy Lakatosh, both regulars at Trexlertown, are on the Toyota-United team this year.
