The local cyclocross season begins Saturday with the Stony Run Cyclocross Race at Manetas Park, the former Zinn’s recreational park, along North Reading Road in Denver. Races through the paved and grass circuit begin at 10 a.m. The last race, for elite men, begins at 12:45 p.m. and lasts until 1:45.

Online registration - closing at 8 p.m. tonight - is at: http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=4749. There will be no race registration Saturday morning.

There will also be a bicycle flea market on the baseball field adjacent to the race course on Saturday morning. Gold Coast Cafe, of Union National Bank, will providing coffee to spectators during the racing.

The county’s second - and last - cross race is the Wonderland Cyclocross Race. That race will be on December 8 in East Lampeter Community Park.

In the Mid-Atlantic region, stretching from New York to Virginia, there are an additional 40 cross events this fall. They are listed on the BikeReg registration website at: http://www.bikereg.com/events/default.asp?p=1&ne=15&et=2&rg=2&states=
