September 11th, 2007 1:27 pm · 0 comments

The fifth annual “Miles in Memory of Josh” bicycle ride will be held Sunday, beginning at 1:30 p.m., near Mount Gretna.

The ride will take place on the Lebanon Valley Rail-trail and participants can ride from one to 10 miles on the shaded gravel trail. There will be rest stops along the trail with refreshments and lunch at the end of the ride. The event will be held rain or shine.

Riders are asked to pre-register by calling Krista Jenkins, at 983-0822. Sponsor sheets are also available.
A minimum sponsorship of $10 per adult rider is requested.

All proceeds will be given to the Joshua Montpetit Scholarship Fund at Warwick High School. Montpetit, the son of Lisa and Steve Montpetit of Lititz, was 22, when he died in 2001 while playing basketball. He was diagnosed as having a congenital heart defect.

Anyone unable to participate, but who still wants to contribute to the scholarship fund can send checks payable to the “Joshua Montpetit Scholarship Fund” to Krista Jenkins, 1750 Hilltop Road, Washington Boro, PA 17582.

To reach the trail from Lancaster, take Route 72 north toward Mount Gretna, take the Route 117/Mount Gretna exit, go to bottom of exit ramp and turn left, travel 5.4 miles through Mount Gretna to a stop sign at the “T” in the road, turn right onto Wilson Road and make an immediate right into the public parking area. Look for registration tables.
