With the Christiana and Deodate races over, the 2007 local road racing season is essentially over. Thoughts turn to chilly days of autumn, and, to cyclocross.
A quick check of upcoming cross races, at http://www.bikereg.com/events/?et=2&rg=2, shows 11 events this fall in the Mid-Atlantic region, between New York and Virginia. Three of those races are here in Lancaster County and a few others are only a short drive away.
The last in the local line-up, the Wonderland Cyclocross Race, has been bumped back a month. The event, organized by Pro-Am Cycling, will be held December 8 at East Lampeter Community Park, at 2320 Hobson Road, east of Lancaster.
The event had been scheduled Nov. 3. The change was presumably made to avoid the conflict with the Wayne Scott Memorial Cyclocross Race, presented by First State Velo. That race will be held at Fair Hill, in Cecil County, Md., at the northeastern tip of Maryland, just across the state line from both Pennsylvania and Delaware.
