‘Ze Volvos’ cross continental divide

June 15th, 2007 1:57 pm · 0 comments

Lancaster bicyclist Mike Ridgeway’s TeamEndeavor passed Springfield, Colo. this afternoon, leaving the Rockies behind them and heading east to Kansas.

The four-man team from Central Pennsylvania remains in seventh place in their division. After nearly three full days of pedaling across the country in the Race Across America, the team is averaging a steady 18.06 miles per hour. The team has completed 1,222.7 miles. They have 1,820.1 to go before reaching the boardwalk of Atlantic City, N.J. Based on their average speed, they are projected to reach the finish on June 19 at 17:52 p.m.

According to the team’s on-line diary, they have given names to the other teams they are in most frequent contact with. Team Gs - Logistik Austria has been dubbed, understandably enough, the Austrians. Team Gs’ riders have begun referring to TeamEndeavor, because of the sponsor logo on the front of their jerseys as “ze Volvos.”
