With the USADA hearing behind him, Floyd Landis is going to the next thing: the book.
Landis, a Lancaster County native, will be returning on June 29, to sign copies of his new book, Positively False, http://www.amazon.com/Positively-False-Real-Story-France/dp/1416950230, at the Barnes & Noble store, in Red Rose Commons, Fruitville Pike. The event begins at 7 p.m.
The visit will occur three days after publication of the book. It is part of three-state swing promoting the book. Details are on: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=53701221&blogID=268533604
The book will be published and this year’s three-week tour will likely be over before the arbiters in Landis’ anti-doping case render a ruling on whether he used banned testosterone to boost his performance and win last summer’s Tour de France. Landis faces being stripped of his tour title and a two-year ban from professional racing.
Organizers of the Tour de France have already said they are removing Landis’ name from the list of winners. The name of Bjarne Riis, winner of the 1996, will remain, however, because his admission to doping on Friday was beyond the eight-year statute of limitations, as discussed at http://www.aolsportsblog.com/2007/05/25/why-re-write-history-for-floyd-landis-but-not-bjarne-riis/.
Guilty until proven innocent for Landis. It doesn’t matter for Riis. Go figure.
