Inquiring minds - Floyd

March 26th, 2007 5:20 pm ·

In the inquiring minds want to know  about Floyd Landis department:
The song going through his head during Stage 17: “Badlands,” by Bruce Springsteen.
The recovery beer he consumed after bonking on Stage 16: Heineken.
Thoughts on who will win this year’s Tour: “I don’t care.”
Thoughts on teams he could ride for when/if exonerated: Hasn’t let himself think about it.
If cleared immediately in May, would he compete in Tour: No, he is not in shape to win and has no interest in riding just to participate.
Expected cost of his defense: $2 million.
Amount spent so far on defense: $750,000.
Amount raised by Floyd Fairness Fund: $400,000.
“Most miserable stage” of the Tour: the celebratory finish to Paris. “It’s fairly uneventful. It’s just a formality … You just want it to be over. It’s been going on for three weeks.”
With new hip: riding pain-free and physically stronger than last year.
Shape: would take two-to-three months of training to regain form.
Riding now: about a third of usual training miles, that is 150-200 miles per week.
Church with parents Sunday morning: No, slept in.
More Floyd Fairness Fund events: expect another six townhalls.
Number done so far: nine.
Experts lined up for the defense hearing: about 20.
