This is from a piece on Pryor’s signing by Mike White of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:
“I would’ve had Penn State higher and would’ve considered them more if I knew coach Bradley was going to be the head coach when Joe Paterno retires,” Pryor said.
He’s not the only one.

So Terrelle Pryor is going to Ohio State, as has been long suspected.
Not sure this is a bad thing for Penn State. They have a quarterback for next year. They have a QB for the year after that. Drop Pryor into Happy Valley and you immediately have a QB controversy, probably with players taking sides, etc. […]

holiday post-mortem
January 3rd, 2008 · No Comments
BPR is back after a holiday vacation with considerable blog stored in its hump…
Alamo Bowl: Please understand that This Space is not a fan of Anthony Morelli. He was not a good major-college quarterback, and wasn’t close to what Joe Paterno and his staff portrayed him to be.
His performance in San Antonio included a lot […]

Michigan made a great hire, it says here, better than Les Miles would have been. Rich Rodriguez can coach, he can recruit, and he’s a master of the spread-option offense, the simplest and most effective way to play college football right now.
Supposedly Rodriguez was already on the phone to Terrell Pryor, the QB of Pennsylvania […]

Heisman
December 6th, 2007 · No Comments
Tim Tebow should and apparently will be given the Heisman Trophy Saturday.
Even though it goes far beyond the numbers they’re staggering- 29 touchdowns passing and 22 running, 838 rushing yards (nearly 1,000 if, as the NFL does, you count sacks as passing yardage), 260 passing yards a game. He’s completed 69 percent of his throws […]

So the Patriots got caught cheating three months ago, and their reaction - their coaches’ reaction in particular - was to turn this season into a crusade to stick it to the world and show everybody. This has led to the unsavory spectacle of guys ecstatically spiking the ball after touchdowns that put their team […]

Penn State-Michigan State post-mortem
November 22nd, 2007 · No Comments
In retrospect Penn State’s season might have begun to wobble as early as week three, when Buffalo scored three TDs in the fourth-quarter dregs of a blowout, badly victimizing the Lions’ secondary and pre-season All-American CB Justin King in particular.
The Penn State coaches had apparently figured they could leave wideout coverage to their corners, man-to-man, […]

Now, go play your butts off in Michigan, fellas

Penn State DT Chris Baker, LB Navarro Bowman and DB Knowledge Timmons were hit with criminal charges Thursday stemming from an Oct. 7 fight on the Penn State campus.
Baker, who also faces charges from his role in an April fight in State College, was charged Thursday with felony aggravated assault. So was Bowman.
Timmons, from York will […]

Joe Pa teleconference 11

In football, Michigan State has long been the infuriating problem child of the Big Ten family.
The Spartans are, or have been, talented and occasionally brilliant. They’ve also been wildly erratic, prone to off-field issues, underachieving and in general need of a Ritalin prescription.
At least that’s the educated perception.
Maybe that’s over with, or at least changing, […]

Penn State-Temple prediction
November 9th, 2007 · No Comments
On Sept. 15, Temple trailed at UConn 22-17 with 40 seconds left when, on a fourth-down play, the Owls hit a wide receiver-to-wide receiver pass that would have given them the lead.
The receiver was ruled out-of-bounds in the end zone. He wasn’t. The play somehow wasn’t overturned on replay. UConn this survived, 22-17. It is […]
