If Mike Huckabee’s wife blowing into Vegas for a boxing weekend and staying at Hooters doesn’t make you proud to be an American, I just don’t know what to tell you.
I heart (punch) Huckabee

Just attacks on people you don't like. Oh yes thats right i never post any facts. I do you just choose to not read them, or just dismiss them right away. It wasn't an attack either, just an observation. Sorry your so thin skinned you take it as an attack. I think mnepats has called you on this enough you would start to understand it. |

Waas "I signed the [parole] papers because the governor wanted Dumond paroled. I was thinking the governor was working for the best interests of the state." —Ermer Pondexter, ex-member of the board of pardons and paroles New sources, including an advisor to Gov. Mike Huckabee, have told the Arkansas Times that Huckabee and a senior member of his staff exerted behind-the-scenes influence to bring about the parole of rapist Wayne Dumond, who Missouri authorities say raped and killed a woman there shortly after his parole. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayne_DuMond QUOTE When Bill Clinton was campaigning for president in 1992, his lieutenant governor Jim Guy Tucker became the acting governor of Arkansas. Tucker reviewed DuMond's life-plus-twenty-years sentence. Because the jury had not been allowed to take DuMond castration into consideration, Tucker commuted the sentence down to slightly over 39 years.[8][14] This clemency meant that DuMond would eventually be considered for parole. When Mike Huckabee became governor, he supported the release of DuMond, with one state official stating "The problem with the governor is that he listens to Jay Cole and reads Steve Dunleavy and believes them ... without doing other substantiative work."[12] Huckabee, addressing DuMond as "Dear Wayne," wrote to DuMond in January 1997: "My desire is that you be released from prison."[17] The letter explained why the governor had denied commutation but instead was recommending parole on the grounds that parole would result in supervision, which Huckabee was said to have felt was important. The details of how much assistance Huckabee provided to DuMond remain uncertain, in part because the governor met in "executive session" with five of the seven parole board members to discuss the issue, and the administrator who normally took notes was removed from the room. This is a violation of Arkansas law as such secret executive sessions are limited by statute to discussions regarding personnel decisions, specifically to avoid the appearance of undue influence from the Governor's office. Again from Wikipedia, a little fact that republicans forget. QUOTE Presidential candidate Michael Dukakis was the governor of Massachusetts at the time of Horton's release, and while he did not start the furlough program, he had supported it as a method of criminal rehabilitation. The State inmate furlough program was actually signed into law by Republican Governor Francis W. Sargent in 1972. After the Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that this right extended to first-degree murderers, the Massachusetts legislature quickly passed a bill prohibiting furloughs for such inmates. However, in 1976, Governor Dukakis vetoed this bill. The program remained in effect through the intervening term of governor Edward J. King and was abolished during Dukakis's final term of office on April 28, 1988. This abolition only occurred after the Lawrence Eagle Tribune had run 175 stories about the furlough program and won a Pulitzer Prize. Dukakis continued to argue that the program was 99% effective; yet, as the Lawrence Eagle Tribune pointed out, no state outside of Massachusetts, nor any federal program, would grant a furlough to a prisoner serving life without parole, as Horton was. |
| hahaha 2/21/08 1:07 PM | Instead of false statements from former Clinton appointees. How about some information straight from the horse's mouth: http://boldcolorconservative.com/2007/12/0...e-dumond-story/ Who is really holding on to a grudge, Clinton fans or the pastor? You know, like when Dr. Charles Chastain was questioned about the governor requesting Willie to be paroled. Well, truth was he wasn't actually in a meeting with the governor, but some of the other members told him about a meeting. Hmmmm........ You quoted Pondexter who back in 2005 said she was persuaded by the parole board chairman - NOT by Huckabee. How things change when there is an election..... |
| usedmeat 2/22/08 12:27 AM | QUOTE Instead of false statements from former Clinton appointees. They have been charged with perjury? Perhaps you have proof? Shouldn't you turn it over to the state AG? QUOTE The details of how much assistance Huckabee provided to DuMond remain uncertain, in part because the governor met in "executive session" with five of the seven parole board members to discuss the issue, and the administrator who normally took notes was removed from the room. Strange behaviour from someone with nothing to hide. |
| hahaha 2/22/08 6:36 AM | Perjury? AG? This isn't a court of law. It is a media story. A classic he said - she said. Funny how you go after Bush for what they did to McCain in the Carolina's primary, yet you jump all over this story about McCain like it is gospel. This story broke from an 'anonymous' 3rd party group in Iowa. They were attempting to dispel Huckabee as the true conservative candidate and used the Dumond story as their proof. So the media picks up on it. Also funny how you linked it to the dislike of Clinton. That was the Daily KOS's spin on the story. Of course they can never resist and good chance to defend their king. Of course what is failed to be mention by KOS and most of the main stream media is the entire parole board was made up of appointees by Democratic governors AND THE MAIN FACT that the former Democratic Governor before Huckabee actually commuted Desmond's sentence and made him eligible for parole. For review: Huckabee had no legal say in the release of this person. The former Democratic governor commuted his sentence and a Democratically appointed parole board approved his parole. Since this guy raped more women after his release, it is the Republicans fault! Funny how I see the word 'accountability' used by lefty posters all the time. Mirror anyone? |

| hahaha 2/22/08 8:57 PM | I know. My bad. Of course none of the things I state are facts. Strictly my opinions. Unless of course I post pro-lefty material. Then that is fact. I could pick out a couple of quotes from no linked source. Put a newspaper or media company name after them and of course you must accept them as facts. It is the way the world works. Isn't the Internet grand!?! Sometimes I feel like I am discussing things with my 2 year old. Well at least he can read a chart. More I can say about some of the posters on this board. |

What part of this do you and your bathroom buddy don't understand? |
| hahaha 2/23/08 5:59 AM | You can't be that dense? Did Huckabee vote for the parole, yes or no? I could have a closed door meeting with you and beg and plead for you to vote for a Republican for President. Are you going to do it? Requesting someone to vote yes and them voting yes are 2 different actions. At the end of the day who is responsible? The person who made the request or the person who cast the vote? |
| usedmeat 2/23/08 10:50 AM | So, you admit that Huxterbee threw the considerable weight of the governor's office behind the parole of Wayne Dumond. But in your mind it's the parloe board members, who caved to the pressure brought to bear, fault? So republican of you, hahaha. Where have we heard this before? Oh, that's it. George Bush invaded Iraq on good faith and only learned later he was fed a bum steer by the CIA. |
