Lancaster Catholic, Hempfield moving on

Dave Byrne was on the baseball beat Monday afternoon, when two of the three Lancaster County teams who made the PIAA Tournament advanced — that would be Hempfield in Quad-A and Lancaster Catholic (the district champ) in Double-A. Warwick, the Quad-A district champ, was bounced in the first round. Here’s Dave’s recap from Tuesday’s New […]

WARRIORS TOP RED LAND 7-1, WIN FIRST CROWN IN SCHOOL HISTORY
Dave Byrne was in Hershey on Thursday for the District 3 Quad-A baseball title game. And when the dust settled (dust, baseball field, get it?) Warwick’s players hoisted the trophy high. Here’s Dave’s story from Friday’s New Era:
HERSHEY — Sometimes a perceived calamity can be a […]

News and notes …

JEFFREY REINHART jreinhart@LNPnews.com
Cleaning out an old notebook I found wedged in the bottom of my bag …
I know, I know: It’s the spring sports season. So why, then, is Reinhart writing about football? What are these football photos doing on this post? It’s May, for crying out loud.
Hey, I really like Lancaster-Lebanon League football. How’s […]

Another ‘no-no’ for Bollinger; Derr no-hits CV

JEFFREY REINHART jreinhart@LNPnews.com
Caution: Flammable.
The hottest pitcher in the Lancaster-Lebanon League is Donegal sophomore Lindsay Bollinger.
Hands down.
The Indians’ hurler tossed her second no-hitter of the week on Friday, striking out eight and allowing just two walks in Donegal’s 4-0 win over Columbia in an L-L League crossover game in Mount Joy.
Bollinger no-hit Elco on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Warwick […]

JEFFREY REINHART jreinhart@LNPnews.com
Geez-o, there are seemingly a million spring sports. It’s getting tougher and tougher to keep up with all of them. JEFFREY REINHART jreinhart@LNPnews.com
Spent Wednesday evening at lovely Comet Field in Millersville (love what you’ve done with the place, by the way), where Penn Manor and Warwick butted heads in an L-L League girls’ lacrosse crossover game. Did I mention Penn Manor and Warwick were the last unbeaten teams in league play? And that Warwick was […]
