The final L-L League Quarterback Club Player of the Week choices are hot off the presses.
Here are the Club’s Week 10 selections …
SECTION 1
BACK OF THE WEEK – Reading RB Jason Stewart had 22 carries for 114 yards and a TD run and he caught five passes for 56 yards in the Red Knights’ 14-10 setback back McCaskey, which knocked Reading out of the playoff chase while the Red Tornado snapped its 20-game losing skid. Stewart finished the regular season with 1,207 rushing yards (fourth in the league) and 17 TD runs (fourth in the league).
LINEMAN OF THE WEEK – McCaskey TE T.J. Ford had a high blocking grade for an offensive line that helped the Tornado rush for more than 200 yards, and he had three pancake blocks in McCaskey’s 14-10 win over Reading, which knocked the Red Knights out of the postseason picture and snapped the Tornado’s 20-game losing streak. It was also Reading’s final game as an L-L League member.
SECTION 2
BACK OF THE WEEK – Manheim Central QB Justin Gorman completed 12-of-13 passes for 183 yards a two TD passes, and he seven keepers for 141 yards and scored three TD in the Barons’ 49-0 win over Garden Spot. It was Central’s fourth shutout victory in a row – and six overall – and the Barons locked up the No. 1 seed in the District 3 Triple-A playoffs. Gorman had 12 TD passes and 15 TD runs during the regular season.
LINEMAN OF THE WEEK – Ephrata OL Dan Guerra had a high blocking grade on offense and he had four knockdown blocks in the Mountaineers’ 34-24 victory over Conestoga Valley – capping a 2-win season after Ephrata went 0-10 last year and suffered through a 16-game losing streak.
SECTION 3
BACK OF THE WEEK – Pequea Valley WR/DB Tyler Schmitt had 13 catches for 130 yards, including three TD grabs, on offense, and on defense he was in on 11 tackles in the Braves’ 47-19 loss to Northern Lebanon. Schmitt finished the regular season with 51 receptions, tops in the L-L League.
LINEMAN OF THE WEEK – Lancaster Catholic OL/DL Ross Hall had a 94 percent blocking grade on offense, and on D he was in on eight tackles (5 solo), had a tackle for a loss and had a sack in the Crusaders’ 51-28 win over Elco, which clinched the Section 3 title outright and locked up the No. 1 seed in the District 3 Double-A bracket for Catholic.
