Sometimes I get so caught up in football (and life in general; not liking this Yankees 2-1 lead at the moment) that I forget what else is going on around the L-L League.
This is a very exciting time actually – all the league playoffs are in the books and the District 3 playoffs are humming along quite nicely.
And there are still quite a few L-L League teams still dancing in the postseason.
Busy, busy week on tap for soccer players, field hockey players, volleyball players and cross-country runners.
If you’re mapping out your sports week, here’s some help …
BOYS SOCCER
Just one L-L League combatant still standing in the District 3 bracket: Warwick, which will take on Mid-Penn heavyweight Central Dauphin in a semifinal game Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in Hersheypark Stadium.
The other semifinal, set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hersheypark Stadium, pits No. 17 seed Mechanicsburg – which shocked No. 1 seed and L-L League champ Manheim Township in the first round – against another Cinderella, No. 13 seed Red Land.
The District 3 Triple-A boys’ soccer championship is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. in Hersheypark Stadium.
The top three finishers in Triple-A advance to States, so Warwick will need to win at least one more game this week to go to the PIAA playoffs.
FIELD HOCKEY
There are four L-L League teams in line for a district championship, and in both classes, it’s very possible that L-L League teams could square off in championship games.
In Triple-A, reigning L-L League and state champ Penn Manor will take on Lower Dauphin in one semifinal on Tuesday. The other semifinal features Hempfield against Hershey.

The District 3 Triple-A championship match is set for Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Milton Hershey High School.
In Double-A, reigning L-L League runner-up Donegal will take on Palmyra in a semifinal game on Tuesday. The other semifinal features Lancaster Mennonite against No. 1 seed Oley Valley.
The District 3 Double-A championship match is set for Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Milton Hershey High School.
The top five finishers from both classes advance to the PIAA playoffs.
Sounds like there should be plenty of drama here. Stay tuned.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Tons going on here, so pay attention.
In Triple-A, reigning L-L League champ Hempfield, Warwick, Manheim Central, Manheim Township, Garden Spot and Conestoga Valley are all in pool play.
And in Double-A, Lampeter-Strasburg and Lancaster Mennonite are in pool play.
Triple-A pool play is set for Tuesday at four venues:
At Hempfield, the host Black Knights and Warwick will compete in Pool A.
At Wilson, Manheim Central and Manheim Township will compete in Pool B.
At Gettysburg, Garden Spot will compete in Pool C.
At Dallastown, Conestoga Valley will compete in Pool D.
The top two teams in each pool advance to Thursday’s quarterfinal round, which will be contested at Hempfield and at Northern York.
The Triple-A semifinals and championship match are set for Saturday at Dallastown, starting at 3 p.m.

In Double-A on Monday, Lancaster Mennonite will compete in Pool B play at Hempfield and Lampeter-Strasburg will compete in Pool C play at Lower Dauphin.

CROSS COUNTRY
Two big meets down and one to go.
With the L-L League Meet and District 3 Meet in the books, that leaves the PIAA championship, which is set for Saturday at the former Park View Golf Course next to the Giant Center in Hershey – site of the District 3 Meet as well.
Two things to keep an eye on here:
First, can the Warwick girls’ team win another title?
The Warriors won the league and District 3 team crowns, and now they’ll go for the big one in Triple-A on Saturday.
And can Elco senior Kayleigh Perry sweep the postseason?
The Raiders’ senior has already repeated as league and District 3 Double-A champ, and she’ll go for a state Double-A crown on Saturday.
Perry has not lost a race this season.
