Mountaineers’ coach chats about snapping ‘the streak’
Happiest football coach in the L-L League last weekend had to be Ephrata’s Jim Vieland.
The Mountaineers’ second-year coach finally got to kick up his feet and watch his kids celebrate, when Ephrata snapped a 16-game losing streak compliments of a 35-7 victory over Garden Spot.
When the game was over, Vieland got an ice-water bath from his players, and the Mounts finally tasted victory for the first time since Week 10 in 2007.
I chatted with Coach Vieland after practice on Tuesday, and we talked about snapping the streak, about keeping everyone’s morale up for the last season and a half, and about the support he’s been receiving while trying to turn things around in Ephrata.
