Raiders’ senior goes back-to-back in L-L cross country finale
Elco senior Kayleigh Perry has successfully defended her Lancaster-Lebanon League girls’ cross country individual championship.
The Raiders’ top runner, who did not lose a meet during the regular season, and who was the only runner in the L-L League – boys’ or girls’ – to maintain a perfect 1.00 scoring average, finished in 18:51 at Ephrata Middle School on Tuesday.
Perry easily outdistanced the Warwick tandem of Emily Cameron, who finished second, and Allison Mannon, would have finished second, but settled for the bronze when she tripped up right at the finish line.
Solanco’s Taylor Ludman was fourth and Hempfield’s Natasha Henderson was fifth.
Warm, sunny day in Ephrata – perfect running conditions with a slight breeze. There was some standing water on the long straightaway between the starting line and the finish line from last weekend’s rain storm.
Perry will now try and defend her District 3 Double-A title on Wednesday at the old Park View Golf Course behind the Giant Center in Hershey.
