‘3 Stars’ time for Week 6 …

CV’s Kevin Kelley - 5 TD runs in win vs. Solanco // LNP photoKevin Kelley, Conestoga Valley – If this is beginning to sound like a broken record, well, it is. Another week, another huge effort by the Buckskins’ senior I-back, who chewed up and spit out Solanco for 179 rushing yards and five (5!) touchdown runs in CV’s 41-20 Section 2 win over the Golden Mules. The victory – and Kelley’s big night – did a few things: First, it kept CV (3-0, 5-1) in first place in Section 2 along with Lebanon (3-0, 3-3) and Manheim Central (3-0, 6-0). And it set up this Friday’ monster showdown in Witmer, where CV will host Central with first place on the line. It’ll be like old times. Meanwhile, Kelley upped his gaudy season totals to 1,199 rushing yards and 18 TD runs – both tops in the league. By the way, Kelley’s TD runs vs. Solanco covered 1, 35, 5, 1 and 17 yards, respectively.

Lancaster Catholic’s Jordan Stewart - 242 rushing yards, 3 TD in win vs. PV // LNP photoJordan Stewart, Lancaster Catholic – The Crusaders’ junior RB carved up Pequea Valley for 242 rushing yards on just 15 carries and he scored three touchdowns in Catholic’s 62-7 Section 3 win over the Braves. Stewart’s TD runs covered 7, 18 and 64 yards for the Crusaders, who improved to 3-0 in league games and are now alone in first place in Section 3 after L-S knocked off previously unbeaten Elco 40-14. Stewart has been a terror since rejoining the lineup full-time in Week 3 vs. Manheim Central. His 242-yard effort vs. Pequea Valley was the third game in a row he rushed for at least 120 or more yards, and he’s now rushed for more than 500 yards and seven scores in his last four games.

Lebanon QB Alex Trautman - 4 TD tosses in win over Cocalico // LNP photoAlex Trautman, Lebanon – The Cedars’ sophomore QB helped Lebanon pull off perhaps the biggest upset so far this season, when the Cedars dropped Cocalico 33-13 and improved to 3-0 in Section 2 – good for a first-place tie with Conestoga Valley (3-0, 5-1) and Manheim Central (3-0, 6-0). Piloting Lebanon’s ‘Air Raid’ attack, Trautman completed 11-of-24 passes for 250 yards and he tossed four TD passes – a 21-yarder to Jesse Sales, a 68-yarder to Nick Pastrana, a 73-yarder to Sales and a 22-yarder to Brian Quinones, respectively, helping the Cedars win their third game in a row. Through six games, Trautman has completed 86-of-174 passes for 1,134 yards and 10 TD against four picks – more importantly, he has helped Lebanon climb to the top of the Section 2 charts after a 0-3 start.
