Blue Streaks’ coach puts a wrap on win over Warwick
Don’t look now, but that mystery team everyone was waiting for to step up and challenge Wilson for Section 1 supremacy has emerged.
Manheim Township, fresh off its 34-14 win at Warwick last Friday night, is 2-0 in Section 1, has won three games in a row to improve to 4-1 overall, and is tied atop the section race with the Bulldogs as the schedule shifts to Week 6.
Make that two good section wins in a row for the Blue Streaks, who walloped Reading 50-6 – the Red Knights bounced back and knocked off previously unbeaten Penn Manor in Week 5 if you didn’t notice – and then a 20-point win over Warwick, which brought the L-L League’s top-ranked defense into that game.
So keep an eye on the Streaks, who will play at Cedar Crest (0-3, 2-3) on Friday.
And if you just can’t wait any longer: Wilson (2-0, 4-1) is at Township on Friday, Oct. 23. So there.
I caught up with Township coach Mike Melnyk last Friday after his Streaks took care of business against Warwick. We chatted about that win, about the Streaks’ nice streak, and about what lays ahead for Township.
