Braves’ QB passed for 295 yards, 4 TD in win over Fleetwood
It was a dream game.
You complete a cool 22-of-30 passes for 295 yards and throw four touchdown passes.
And not only does your team win, but it snaps an other forgettable 29-game losing streak in the process.
That’s the kind of night Pequea Valley junior quarterback Ben Myers had last Friday, when he torched Fleetwood’s secondary time and time again in the Braves’ streak-busting 35-25 non-league victory.
Because of Pequea Valley’s penchant for throwing the ball in its spread offense, Myers has put up some crooked numbers in the past.
But four TD passes in a victory – the team’s first since 2006 – had to feel extra special.
And because of his efforts, Myers is the LancSports.com Player of the Week.
Myers’ TD tosses against Fleetwood covered 15 yards to Tyler Schmitt, 40 yards to Ray Ball, and twice he connected with Chad Tyson, from 19 yards and 45 yards, respectively.
More importantly, the Braves earned the victory, their first under third-year coach Curtis Waltman.
Through three games, Myers leads all L-L League quarterbacks in completions (49), pass attempts (100) and passing yards (745), and his seven TD strikes are third-most in the league.
He’s most happy – as you can imagine – about getting a win under the team’s belt, as Pequea Valley preps for Annville-Cleona in the Section 3 opener for both teams on Friday.
I chatted with Myers about his big night, about the o-line guys who gave him ample time throw against Fleetwood, about snapping the losing skid and about the future of the Braves’ program.
