Plenty of fantastic individual performances to choose from in Week 3 action.

But after double- and triple-checking my notes, I went with these three guys for my Week 3 ‘3 Stars’ …

PV QB Ben Myers // LNP photoBen Myers, QB, Pequea Valley – The Braves’ junior signal-caller lit up Fleetwood’s secondary, completing 21-of-30 passes for 282 yards and four touchdowns in Pequea Valley’s 35-25 non-league road win. The victory snapped the Braves’ 29-game losing streak, dating back to a win over Fleetwood in Week 3 of 2006. Myers hit Tyler Schmitt for a 15-yard TD, Ray Ball for a 40-yard TD, and he connected with Chad Tyson for a pair of scores – from 19 and 45 yards out, respectively – as Pequea Valley earned its first win for third-year coach Curtis Waltman. Myers has now passed for a league-best 732 yards this season. The Braves will try and make it two wins in a row Friday in their Section 3 opener against winless Annville-Cleona.

PM QB P.J. Rehm // LNP photoP.J. Rehm, QB, Penn Manor – The Comets’ senior had a field day against Exeter, completing 11-of-17 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns in Penn Manor’s 49-14 non-league home win over the Eagles. The Comets improved to 3-0 out of the gate for the second year in a row; Penn Manor started last season 7-0. Rehm also had a TD keeper in the win vs. Exeter. His touchdown passes covered 26 and 24 yards, respectively, to Aaron Frederick, and 28 and 80 yards, respectively, to Demetrius Dixon. Rehm added a 10-yard TD run on a keeper for the Comets, who open Section 1 play Friday at home against Hempfield, which is riding a two-game winning streak.

Reading’s Jason Stewart // Reading Eagle photoJason Stewart, RB, Reading – The Red Knights’ rugged runner piled up 193 yards on 21 carries and had a pair of long second-half touchdown runs in Reading’s 13-0 non-league home win over backyard rival Governor Mifflin. Locked in a scoreless tie at the half, Stewart went 63 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, and then iced the game with a 44-yard TD romp in the fourth quarter as Reading snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 1-2 overall heading into Friday’s Section 1 opener at Manheim Township (2-1).

Honorable Mentions – Three Warwick running backs (Andrew Newsome, Jeremy Breland and Chris Schaffer) combine for 272 yards in Warriors’ 18-7 win over Ephrata. … Two Solanco backs (Ryan Kurtz and John Fisher) go over 100 yards each in Golden Mules’ 28-19 win over Oxford. … Cedar Crest’s Dustin McFarland blocks a punt, leading to Joe Hoelzle’s game-winning field goal in Falcons’ 24-21 win vs. Conestoga Valley. … Manheim Central’s Derek Hart grabs two TD catches and picks off a pass in Barons’ 42-12 win at Lancaster Catholic. … Hempfield’s Spencer Lehr rushes for 168 yards and three touchdowns (giving him eight scores this season) in the Black Knights’ 47-20 win over Carlisle. … Manheim Central’s Joe Gruber rushes for 139 yards and three touchdowns in Barons’ win over Catholic.
