Buckskins’ d-back savors victory over Warwick
Huge defensive effort by Conestoga Valley DB Leonard Williams in the rain last Friday night in Lititz.
The Buckskins’ cover-man had a pair of interceptions, none bigger than the one with 20 seconds to go, when he was at the right place at the right time.
Warwick QB Jordan Donmoyer unloaded a pass to his favorite receiver, Matt Rissinger, who dove for the ball on the far sideline, just in front of Warwick’s bench.
Rissinger couldn’t quite get his hands around the slippery pigskin (it rained the entire first half and the field was soppy) and the ball deflected off of him and into the waiting hands of Williams, who made a diving interception to seal CV’s exhilarating 9-7 win over Warwick.
Make that two wins in a row for the Buckskins, who are turning heads left and right.
I caught up Williams after the game and we chatted about his big pick, about CV’s defense holding Warwick to just one score, and about the Buckskins’ red-hot 2-0 start.
