Eagles’ standout WR/LB chats about Week 1 win over L-S

Fabulous start to the football season for Cocalico, which went on the road and topped a much improved, athletic Lampeter-Strasburg team 34-21 in a non-league game last Friday night in Lampeter.

One of the stars of the show was Cocalico’s Kyle Rissell, who had three catches for 80 yards – the best of the lot a sweet, diving TD grab that tied the game at 7 late in the first half.

Rissell and his O mates went on to score 27 unanswered points in the second half to put away the pesky Pioneers.

I caught up with Rissell after the game, and we chatted about the importance of the 1-0 start, about getting a big win on opening night on the road, about how this Cocalico might look and feel a little different than last year’s model, and about where he and his Eagles’ teammates go from here.
