According to the following report on Philly.com, the NFL has disapproved Matt Nagy’s contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The former Manheim Central standout had signed with the Eagles on Monday after Kevin Kolb went down with a knee injury during drills at Lehigh University in Bethlehem.
Nagy, who played college football at the University of Delaware and was a standout QB in the Arena Football League, was serving as an intern coach with the Eagles.
Here’s the report from Philly.com …
Matt Nagy spent this morning in a No. 9 red jersey as a member of the Eagles’ 80-man training camp roster.
Afterward, the former University of Delaware and Arena League quarterback talked about the opportunity of a lifetime.
By the afternoon practice, his opportunity had vanished.
“Matt Nagy’s contract was disapproved by the NFL,” the Eagles said in a statement, adding that they would not attempt to re-sign the quarterback. “The team will look in another direction at quarterback position.”
The Eagles had no further comment and Nagy also declined comment.
Nagy, 31, had already been in camp as a coaching intern when the Eagles signed him after quarterback Kevin Kolb suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament during Monday morning’s practice. Nagy, who had never been invited to an NFL camp, was hoping to see his first game action in the Eagles’ preseason opener Thursday against the New England Patriots.
Still awaiting for a response from the league on why the contract was disapproved.
