Indians’ junior wraps up state semifinal win vs. Tulpehocken

Donegal’s Jovita Richardson (rear) - goes up for the header in win over Tulpehocken // LNP photoHERSHEY – She’s not the biggest player on the soccer field. But Jovita Richardson has a huge heart – and a huge game to match.

Donegal’s junior is dangerous on both ends of the pitch – she’s a major pest on defense, can start an offensive rush with good dribbling and passing skills between the 18s, and she can finish at the other end.

Richardson was all over the place on Tuesday, helping Donegal beat Tulpehocken 2-0 in a PIAA Double-A state semifinal in Hersheypark Stadium, as the Indians punched their ticket into Friday’s state title game opposite L-L League neighbor Lancaster Mennonite, which will be looking to repeat as state champs.

But Richardson and her mates will be standing in the way. It has been a magical postseason run for Donegal, and the Indians aren’t quite ready to go home yet.

I caught up with Ms. Richardson after Tuesday’s win over Tulpy, and we chatted about Donegal’s amazing postseason run, about its shutout win in the state semifinals, and about getting to play Mennonite in the state title game.
