Bears’ teammates will play football for Division III Lebanon Valley

A pair of Elizabethtown seniors who helped the Bears’ football team become the talk of the town the last couple of years have made their college decisions.

And classmates Conrad Heisey and Alex Kirchner will both play for the same program at the next level.

Heisey and Kirchner will continue their careers at Lebanon Valley College – Kirchner as a fullback and Heisey as a halfback for the Dutchmen, who compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference with Lycoming, Delaware Valley, Albright, Wilkes, Widener, Kings and Fairleigh-Dickinson.

“A great fit for both of them,” said Jeff Polites, who coached Heisey and Kirchner the past four years. Polites recently left E-town and accepted the football coaching job at Donegal.

Heisey and Kirchner were key lynchpins on an E-town team that shared the Section 2 title and advanced in the District 3 Triple-A playoffs in 2007, and then went to the District 3 Quad-A playoffs this past fall.

Heisey was a First-Team Section 2 All-Star at running back after piling up 905 yards on 131 carries (6.9 average) and scoring nine touchdowns last fall.

Kirchner was a two-way First-Team Section 2 All-Star at offensive guard and defensive line last season. He also won the L-L League wrestling championship this past winter.

Heisey and Kirchner will play for the North team in the L-L League Tri-County All-Star Football Game on May 23 at 7 p.m. at Manheim Central.

Lebanon Valley, which is coached by Jim Monos, went 4-3 in MAC games and 6-4 overall last season.
