Former Columbia standout resigns after 3 years on girls’ basketball bench
Lisa Tomsheck has resigned her post as head coach of Columbia’s girls’ varsity basketball team.
The Crimson Tide’s former standout guard stepped down after three years on the bench. Columbia went 15-56 over that stretch, including a 1-15 record in Section 4 and a 2-21 overall mark this past season.
Columbia fell to eventual state runner-up York Catholic in the first round of the District 3 Double-A playoffs.
“I enjoyed the experience,” said Tomsheck, formerly Lisa Leddy, who helped the Tide win a couple of District 3 championships during her playing days with Columbia.
“I loved the girls and will miss them greatly,” she said. “I absolutely love the game of basketball, and I will miss being able to teach it. I will definitely miss the girls, and I wish them the best of luck.”
Tomsheck did not rule out a return to coaching, and said she hopes to become a personal trainer for local basketball players.
There are now three coaching vacancies in the L-L girls’ league – Columbia (Tomsheck), Pequea Valley (Melissa Mabry) and Warwick (Matt Reber).
I was told Warwick is in the interview process, and one of the names I heard was very, very interesting.
I’ll keep you posted on what I hear.
