Spartans’ hitter named one of the best freshmen in the country
Garden Spot volleyball standout Lauren Horst was recently named as one of the top frosh players in the country by prepvolleyball.com.
Five freshmen from Pennsylvania made list, including Horst, who helped the Spartans win the L-L League championship and make another deep run in the postseason last fall.
Horst, a 5-10 hitter, was the only player from the L-L League to make the prepvolleyball.com top freshmen list.
The release from prepvolleyball.com described Horst like this:
“Horst made her mark in 2008 as a strong block on the right side. Her presence helped make Garden Spot a state-level contender once again. Watch Horst closely next year as her role on the team expands to include many more hitting opportunities.”
Sammie Strausbaugh (Dover), Mackenzie Kleespies (Avon Grove), Adena Delozier (Altoona) and Cassidy Koenig (Upper Merion) joined Horst on the prepvolleyball.com list of top freshmen in Pennsylvania.
