Wilson wallops Eagles 35-7, wins 4th District 3 Quad-A championship
HERSHEY — Just back from Hersheypark Stadium, where Wilson crushed Cumberland Valley 35-7 to win the District 3 Quad-A championship. The Eagles turned the ball over seven times in the first half alone and eight times overall (four picks, four fumbles) as the Bulldogs jumped to a 35-0 lead and rolled.
It’s the fourth District 3 Quad-A championship in the history of Wilson’s program, and it’s the third time the Bulldogs beat Cumberland Valley in the title game.
Up next for Wilson is the PIAA playoffs, with a date against WPIAL champ Bethel Park (14-0) in the state semifinals set for Saturday.
All apologies for bailing on the live blog at halftime of the Wilson-Cumberland Valley game. My internet connection was brutal, and I kept getting cut offline. I tried to get back online like 3 times, but it kept getting slower and slower, so I dropped back and punted. Wilson led 27-0 at the break, so I called it a night.
So sorry about that.
Two of the four District 3 champs were L-L League teams … Wilson in Quad-A and Lancaster Catholic in Double-A. And Manheim Central made it to the Triple-A finals, so not a bad showing for the L-L League in all.
TONS coming this week … Monday I’ll have Podcasts from the games in Hersheypark this weekend, and I’ll have full capsule previews for Catholic’s and Wilson’s state games, plus Podcast previews for both games, plus our “2-minute drill” videos for each game.
I’ll definitely be blogging from Catholic’s game vs. Philly West Catholic on Friday night from Northeast High in Philly … will also very likely blog Wilson’s game on Saturday - bit of a deep trip there (State College).
ALSO THIS WEEK - Full L-L League girls’ basketball preview capsules and predictions.
