Barons … gone

West York 15, Manheim Central 7 in Hersheypark Stadium

HERSHEY — Manheim Central, back in the District 3 Triple-A finals for the first time since 2005, dropped a 15-7 decision to West York here Friday night.

It was the first time the Barons lost in a district championship game since 1988, when Central fell to Middletown 33-7 in the Barons’ first ever district championship appearance.

Awesome start for Central, which scored on the first play of the game when Justin Gorman hit Dan Trafford for a 64-yard TD pass. After that, it was all West York, which chased Gorman silly and didn’t let the Barons get anything going offensively.

Central finishes its season 11-3 overall, and will very likely be in the weight room Monday morning. Don’t forget: A bulk of Central’s players are juniors, so expectations will be high in Manheim next season.

I recorded coach Mike Williams’ postgame press conference. It will probably need some editing. I’ll see what I can salvage and post it Monday.

Adios from Hersheypark.
