Former L-L League volleyball stars earn national honors
A couple of cool women’s volleyball notes to pass along …
Former Conestoga Valley standout Amber Thomas, a senior outside hitter for national power Juniata College, has been named the NCAA American Volleyball Coaches Association Division 3 Player of the Year for the second year in a row.
Heading into this weekend’s national championship Elite 8, Thomas is averaging 3.81 kills per set, and she had a .309 hitting percentage and averages 2.15 digs and 0.5 blocks per set.

Thomas was also named a First-Team Division 3 All-American.

Former Garden Spot standout Maria Horning and former Cocalico standout Courtney Reinhold, who are freshmen at Eastern University, also earned All-American status this season.
Reinhold, an outside hitter, was named to the second team, while Horning, a setter, was named to the third team.

Reinhold was named MAC Freedom Conference Rookie of the Year, and Horning was named Freedom Conference Player of the Year.
Pretty nice honors for true freshmen.
