TWO LOCAL STANDOUTS MAKE COLLEGE CHOICES

A pair of Division 1 baseball scholarship signings to pass along …

Penn Manor senior pitcher Cameron Black has committed to St. John’s University in New York. The Red Storm competes in the Big East Conference.

And Lancaster Catholic senior outfielder Travis Jankowksi has committed to Stony Brook University, also in New York. The Seawolves compete in the America East Conference.

Black, who had Tommy John surgery on his left pitching arm and missed a good chunk of time last season, should be one of the top players in the L-L League next spring. When he’s not pitching, he plays first base. He’s under the tutelage of local pitching guru Glenn Gallagher.

Jankowski, a speed-demon centerfielder, made the Double-A All-State team last spring, after batting .471 with 33 hits, 25 runs, 20 RBI and 16 extra-base hits while helping Catholic win the District 3 Double-A championship.

Jankowski batted .647 in Districts.
