Former Solanco standout previews Marauders’ season
Zac Bauermaster had a standout basketball career for Solanco.
He’s now in his junior season for Millersville, where he is one of the top subs off coach Fred Thompson’s bench.
Bauermaster and the Marauders got off to a quick start in their season-opener last Saturday night, drilling Penn State-Abington 80-51.
Bauermaster, a 6-3 guard, hit a couple of 3-pointers and popped in a career-high 10 points off the pine.
Bauermaster, who scored 1,278 points during his days at Solanco, played in 26 of MU’s 32 games last season, when the Marauders advanced to the second round of the PSAC playoffs and made it all the way to the NCAA Division 2 Regional finals before falling to California (Pa.).
MU lost some key players off that team – including leading scorer Charlie Parker, who was recently drafted by the NBA’s D-League – but a solid nucleus returns, including Bauermaster.
I caught up with Zac after MU’s win over PSU-Abington last Saturday night, and we chatted about his career with the Marauders, and about MU’s expectations heading into this season.
