Eagles’ coach chats after loss to Central, puts a capper on fine 10-2 season
Your last loss of the season is always the toughest – it means your season is over (Poof! Just like that) and uniforms, pads and helmets will be collected Monday afternoon.
Cocalico football coach Dave Gingrich was in a bit of a somber mood late last Friday, after his Eagles dropped a 26-7 decision to Manheim Central in a District 3 Triple-A quarterfinal game in Denver.
It was the second time this season the Barons stormed into Cocalico and beat the Eagles on their home turf. And this time, it ended Cocalico’s season – and a fine season indeed; the Eagles went 10-2 overall, 6-1 in Section 2, went to Districts for the second year in a row, and reached the second round.
Gingrich was gracious enough to grant me a quick interview on his way out of the misty, mud-caked stadium. We chatted about this season, about how proud he was of his troops, and about where Eagles’ football goes from here.
