Barons’ senior center puts a capper on win over Cocalico
Jeremy Knosp, Justin Gorman, Dan Trafford, Joe Gruber, Dakota Royer, Casey Ebersole … the names go on and on.
Manheim Central’s skill kids are enjoying a big season – a season that was extended last Friday night when the Barons KO’d Section 2 rival Cocalico for the second time this season, this time in the District 3 Triple-A quarterfinals.
The Barons have put up some gaudy offensive numbers – more than 2,000 rushing and 2,000 passing yards through 12 games, and the O is averaging just a tick under 400 yards a game.
But Central wouldn’t have any of those numbers if not for the Barons’ O line, which has been playing lights out as of late.
The linchpin of that line is senior center Riley Clugston, and he and his mates had another big night last Friday, blowing open some nice holes and doing a sturdy job pass-protecting for Gorman, who completed a great percentage of passes – and had a 99-yard TD run to boot.
I chatted with Mr. Clugston after the game about the big win over Cocalico, about Central’s O, and about the Barons heading back to the district semifinals.
