Former Manheim Township standout previews Saturday’s game vs. F&M
Former Manheim Township standout Austin Ehrhart is coming home this weekend.
He and his Johns Hopkins teammates are headed to F&M on Saturday, where the Blue Jays and Diplomats will lock horns in a Centennial Conference game at 1 p.m.
Ehrhart, a senior, has battled an injury bugaboo a bit this season, but he’s started five games at strong safety and he’s made 13 tackles, including a career-high five stops against Gettysburg earlier this season.
Last year as a junior, he appeared in seven games, starting three of them, for JHU, and he had five tackles and a pick.
JHU is 4-2 in the conference and 6-2 overall and has won three games in a row – including the last two via shutout – and F&M is .500 across the board – 3-3 in the conference and 4-4 overall.
But the Diplomats have been solid at home, and that’s where they’ll be Saturday, when Ehrhart and the Jays come calling.
I caught up with Ehrhart via telephone from Baltimore this week, and we chatted about his career with JHU, about his school work and future plans, about why Township produces a lot of college athletes, and about coming home this weekend to take on the Diplomats on Senior Day at F&M.

Excruciatingly busy week for me, so I apologize for not putting together a more thorough F&M-Johns Hopkins preview. But I wanted to post some audio, so I was happy to get Austin on the line from Baltimore to preview the game, which he did quite eloquently.
You can find a ton of goodies about Saturday’s game – including stats and an in-depth preview – on F&M’s Web page, which is quite good by the way.
