Crusaders’ speedy wideout chats about winning Section 3 title … and more
Travis Jankowski is a home-run threat.
When Lancaster Catholic goes to the air – which the Crusaders do quite often – and QB Kyle Smith gets protection and looks to throw the deep ball, there’s a pretty good chance his pass will land in the hands of Jankowski, who is having some sort of season for the Crusaders.
Despite missing a pair of games early on, Jankowski – his friends call him Freddy – has 29 catches for 673 yards (that’s 23.2 yards per grab) and 13 (yup, 13) touchdown receptions.
He was up to his old tricks last Friday against Elco, hauling in five passes for 154 yards and a pair of scores in Catholic’s 42-7 triumph, which gave the Crusaders the outright Section 3 title.
I chatted with Mr. Jankowski after the game about Catholic’s big win, about the Crusaders’ expectations going into Districts and, of course, about his famous moniker.
