Bulldogs’ ball-hawking LB chat about win over Penn Manor, and playing for one of the top defensive units around

Wilson senior LB Pat Zerbe // LNP photoIf you like linebackers, go to a Wilson game.

The Bulldogs’ defense has two of the best in the league: reigning L-L League Section 1 Linebacker of the Year Colton Weaver and this fella – senior Pat Zerbe, who is a one-man wrecking crew.

How good is Zerbe? Pitt and Tennessee were reportedly after him this summer, and he could land at a D1 program before it’s all said and done.

Zerbe is a cruncher. He can chase down ball carries and punish them with the best of them.

And he’s a key cog in a defense that is ranked No. 2 in the league overall, and No. 1 in rush defense – no wonder; with guys like Zerbe and Weaver on the prowl, running backs don’t have much of a chance.

I chatted with Zerbe last Friday after he and the Bulldogs pinned a 42-0 loss on Penn Manor. We spoke about what it’s like playing D for this unit, and about where Wilson will go from here (pssst, pretty far).
