Bears’ multi-purpose junior back chats about comparisons, and big win over Garden Spot
No matter where you go – even high school sports – comparisons are bound to happen.
And when Elizabethtown lost multi-purpose speedster back Jordan Hallman after last season, everyone wanted to know who would slip into that spot for the Bears this season.
Hello, Mitch Weidman.
E-town’s junior back has plenty of speed to burn, and he’s a terrific compliment to slug-it-out backs Conrad Heisey and Shane Rosenberry in the Bears’ vaunted Wing-T set.
After battling some nagging injuries the first half of the season, Weidman – playing at 100 percent speed probably for the first time this year – had the breakout game everyone was waiting for last Friday night, when he rushed for 105 yards, caught a TD pass, rushed for a TD and picked off two passes in the Bears’ 35-19 win over Garden Spot.
I caught up with Mitch after the game and we talked about the Hallman comparison – remember, it was bound to happen – about the big win over Garden Spot, and where the Bears go from here.
