Criminal checks for PIAA officials?

This story has been making the rounds the last couple of days, so I thought I would link it up here for you to enjoy – if you haven’t seen it yet.

According to this story by Rod Frisco in the Harrisburg Patriot-News, the PIAA is considering doing full criminal background checks on all potential officials.

There are some pretty funky factoids in the story (including a juicy nugget reported in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently about at least two PIAA officials who have been charged with crimes of a sexual nature. Interesting).

The new plan, should it get passed, would include three rounds of criminal background checks for potential officials, and the PIAA said it would develop a plan to check on current officials, as well.

It’s a great read.
