Red Tornado coach chats about going up against his former assistant, Penn Manor’s Todd Mealy, on Friday
McCaskey is not having a very fun football season.
The Red Tornado is 0-5 overall and is near the bottom in every major statistical category through the first half of the season.
But McCaskey will keep plugging. There are five games to go, and the Tornado could be a major spoiler in the Section 1 race.
McCaskey will get that chance on Friday, when unbeaten Penn Manor comes to Lancaster to face the Tornado.
Why all the hype about a game featuring a 5-0 team against a 0-5 team?
Because this will be a Teacher vs. Pupil matchup.
Penn Manor coach Todd Mealy served as a defensive coordinator and assistant coach under McCaskey coach Scott Feldman for nine years before heading to Millersville before the start of the 2007 season.
Mealy and Feldman are still close friends.
In this audio Podcast interview, I chatted with Coach Feldman about what it’s like coaching against his protégé, and about Mealy’s success running his own program at a Section 1 rival program.
