Spartans’ senior QB chats about big win over Lebanon, looks forward to showdown vs. E-town
Weston Martin knew he had to have a big game last Friday night, when Lebanon and its high-flying “Air Raid” offense came to New Holland to take on Garden Spot.
The Spartans’ senior QB knew the Cedars were brining the league’s top-ranked offense to town, triggered by blue-chip signal-caller James Capello, who led the league in passing yards and TD passes coming into the game.
Martin was up for the challenge, and he delivered in the clutch, completing 17-of-24 passes for 293 yards and five touchdowns in Garden Spot’s 35-21 win over Lebanon.
The Spartans improved to 2-0 in Section 2 and are in a three-way tie for the lead with Manheim Central and Elizabethtown. And Martin and the Spartans can break that tie Friday, when they head to E-town to take on the Bears.
I caught up with Martin after the game, and we chatted about the big win over Lebanon, Garden Spot’s fast start, and about the showdown at E-town coming up this week.
