Spartans’ senior linebacker chats about clutch win over Lebanon
Clutch win for Garden Spot last Friday night over previously unbeaten Lebanon by a 35-21 count.
The Spartans’ D stepped up when it had to, holding the Cedars out of the end zone a couple of times in crunch time.
Lebanon QB James Capello did his thing – he passed for nearly 300 yards and a TD – but Garden Spot’s defense bent but didn’t break in the end, and earned a big win over the Cedars.
Joe Strangarity, who went over 300 career tackles two weeks ago, is the blood and guts of Garden Spot’s defense. The senior linebacker was his usual gritty self against the Cedars, doing a little bit of everything: blitzing, dropping back into coverage, stuffing the run.
I caught up with Strangarity after the game, and we chatted about the big win, about Garden Spot’s nice 4-1 start, and about where the Spartans go from here.
