Barons’ coach chats about the L-L League Section 2 race

Nice win for Manheim Central on Saturday, when the Barons held off Solanco 24-14 on a dreary afternoon in Manheim.

Weather was brutal on Saturday – it absolutely poured during warmups, but let up just before kickoff. And then it started raining again late in the fourth quarter.

Solanco played tough, and had the lead the in the second half. But Central rallied, got some revenge against the Golden Mules (Solanco won last year, you recall), and moved to 2-0 in Section 2.

Speaking of Section 2 … Manheim Central, Elizabethtown and Garden Spot are all 2-0 in the Section 2 race. That tie will be snapped on Friday, when E-town hosts Garden Spot. Manheim Central gets Ephrata on Friday.

I caught up with Central coach Mike Williams after his Barons held off Solanco on Saturday afternoon. I asked him about the Section 2 race, and how it might shake down in the coming weeks.
