Golden Mules’ coach wraps up tough loss to Elizabethtown, looks forward to showdown vs. Manheim Central

Solanco coach Joe Pearson — Happy with effort vs. E-town, looking ahead to Manheim Central // LNP photoBelieve it or not, Solanco coach Joe Pearson was in a chipper mood late Saturday, after his Golden Mules dropped a 13-7 decision at home against Elizabethtown in the L-L League Section 2 opener for both teams.

E-town won, but Solanco held the Bears’ vaunted offense to just two field goals (Mitch Weidman returned the opening kick for a TD), and the Mules, who trailed 13-0 at the break, played a spirited second half, especially on D, when Solanco held E-town to just 11 rushing yards after the break.

Solanco also had a chance to tie it or win it late, but E-town made a big D stand.

I chatted with Coach Pearson after the game, and he was excited about his team’s effort. He also looked ahead to this Friday’s big game at Manheim Central (you think the Barons want a piece of the Mules, or what?).
