Reinhart’s ‘3 Stars’ from Week 3

Another week, another rendition of ‘3 Stars’ …

Tough call this week. I could have gone a lot of different directions, but here’s what I came up with …

Columbia senior RB Dakotah Lightfoot — 331 rushing yards vs. Boone // LNP photoDakotah Lightfoot, senior RB, Columbia – This was the easiest pick by far. What a night for the Crimson Tide’s scatback, who ran all over Daniel Boone for a school-record 331 yards on 23 carries. He also scored five touchdowns – including a sweet 96-yard jaunt – and his 10-yard TD in overtime gave Columbia a 48-47 victory. You guessed it: Those 331 yards vaulted Lightfoot to the top of the L-L League rushing chart (he’s got a league-best 650 yards in three games; 216.7 per game, by the way), and he challenged the league single-game rushing mark of 404 yards, set by Cocalico’s Tab Musser in 1996. Looks like the rushing-title race is shaping up to be an interesting one, eh?

Penn Manor junior QB P.J. Rhem and the Comets are 3-0 // LNP photoP.J. Rhem, junior QB, Penn Manor – Making his first start this season with senior QB Mike Treier on the shelf (foot), Rhem (pronounced like ‘ream’) completed 6-of-10 passes for 141 yards and had three TD tosses in the Comets’ 31-3 rout over Exeter. Two of his TD passes went to Aaron Frederick; the third to Demetrius Nixon. Rhem also rushed for 60 yards on six keepers and scored a TD – so he accounted for all four of Penn Manor’s scores as the Comets improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1988. Rhem heads into Week 4 as the top-rated passer in the L-L League.

Northern Lebanon senior QB Matt Nolan // LNP photoMatt Nolan, senior QB, Northern Lebanon – Talk about playing an efficient game under center. The Vikings’ signal-caller had a lights-out game against Hamburg, completing 2-of-3 passes for 63 yards and a touchdown, and he rushed for 171 yards on 20 keepers and scored a TD in Northern Lebanon’s 19-14 win over Hamburg. The Vikings improved to 3-0 for the second year in a row, and they’ve let everyone know that they will be a force in the upcoming Section 3 race – particularly Nolan, who enters Week 4 as the second-rated passer in the L-L League.
