Eagles’ new fullback off to a hot start; he talks about it here
Say hello to Austin Hartman.
And get used to the name – you’re going to be hearing it a lot over the next couple of years.
Hartman is Cocalico’s new feature fullback. He’s a sophomore. He’s a first-year varsity player. And he’s a hammer. Now if I can only get a photo of him for my page!
Check out the numbers:
Last week against Exeter he piled up 165 yards in his breakout game.
Thursday night at Annville-Cleona he rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 41-7 non-league victory.
He can pound you like a fullback with his pile-driver legs and powerful shoulders. And he’s got the speed – the kid runs the 100 for the track team – to make you miss.
Ah yes, a multi-functional fullback. There’s a new one.
And here’s the scary part: Cocalico already has one of the best running backs in the league back there in Kyle Fisher, who rolled for 169 yards against Annville-Cleona, after shredding Exeter for 190.
It’s Cocalico. It’s the Veer. And the Eagles have two really good backs in Fisher and Hartman.
I caught up with Hartman on Thursday night after Cocalico’s win, and asked him how it’s going three games into his sophomore season.
