Mountaineers’ football coach chats about playing Warwick for the coveted George Male Trophy

Ephrata coach Jim Vieland // LNP photoThe granddaddy of all L-L League football backyard scraps is set for Friday.

And when Ephrata hosts Warwick at War Memorial Field at 7 p.m., the winner is walking out of there with the George Male Trophy.

It’s the Warriors and the Mountaineers – oh my – in one of the fiercest rivalries in the county.

This is the first time new Ephrata coach Jim Vieland will be calling the shots in a George Male Trophy game. He’s spent the last 11 years as an assistant coach at Hempfield – so he’s familiar with the Warwick-Ephrata rivalry.

But Friday, he’ll be right smack dab in the middle of it.

In this audio Podcast interview, hear Coach Vieland chat about what winning the George Male Trophy would mean to his kids.
